Volunteers held a giant United State flag aloft during pre-game ceremonies to remember the 9/11 tragedy. A leaping punt return by Charles Gordon jump-started the KU offensive explosion. John Randle blew past a Toledo linebacker for part of his 104 yards rushing.

Brandon Rideau leaped to pull in a touchdown reception in the corner of the endzone. Linebacker Nick Reid engulfed a Toledo running back. Head coach Mark Mangino had plenty of players to congratulate in the KU rout.

KU linebacker Kevin Kane knifed in for a tackle. John Randle celebrated his 55-yard pass reception touchdown. Charlton Keith enjoyed his time in the end zone after he recovered a Toledo fumble and ran 21 yards for the score.
