KU's band sported their new uniforms. Jermial Ashley's fumble recovery set up Johnny Beck's 50-yard field goal. Johnny Beck was congratulated on his 50-yard field goal.

David McMillan put a stop to a Tulsa running threat. Linebacker Kevin Kane's pressure forced a bad pass from Tulsa QB James Kilian. Head coach Mark Mangino and Adam Barmann worked to find a way to ignite the KU offense.

Former KU running back Curtis McClinton was honored with his induction into the stadium's Ring of Honor in the north bowl. Greg Heaggans' kickoff return to start the second half got the KU offense off to a fast start. John Randle's running sparked KU in the second half.

Banks Floodman steer wrestled Tulsa's Uril Parrish to the turf. Kevin Kane's interception return set up a KU touchdown. Theo Baines sacked the Tulsa quarterback who was penalized for intentional grounding.
